What it is

Professor Tanuki, a chess bot that commentates its games live on Twitch and that you can play against. A 3D tanuki reacts to every move.

Why

Chess is making a big comeback on social media. The idea: a Professor Tanuki who explains games live on Twitch, to beginners and experienced players alike, and who you can play against live. It goes live from time to time: the current setup doesn't allow 24/7 yet.

How
  1. OrchestrateA Python program fetches the games through the Lichess API and drives everything else.
  2. PlayStockfish thinks for three seconds per move.
  3. CommentateA language model running locally explains the games out loud.
  4. EmbodyThe 3D avatar runs five animations: thinking, talking, win, loss, draw.
  5. BroadcastOBS handles two scenes, including a countdown where pieces fall, and streams to two platforms at once.
Result

A stream that goes live from time to time, with its alerts and a live Lichess stats page. 24/7 will have to wait for a dedicated setup.
